About

Music for freestyle, custom arrangements and editing for kürs.

Daphnée Boisvert founded Musique de Kur in 2021. A lifelong rider, she got back in the saddle in 2017 after a break of a few years. Since then, dressage has been her discipline. She acquired Buddy, her heart horse, in 2021 in the midst of a pandemic. This Belgian crossbred, a giant with a tender heart, has accompanied her to dressage competitions ever since. They both had a lot to learn, and they complement each other perfectly.

The kürs are a natural fit. After university training in music, a career as a lecturer at UQAM’s DESS in film music, and numerous professional projects in music and musical arrangement, it was only natural to combine two passions: music and horseback riding.

Musique de Kür offers the expressiveness of a musician, the observations of a film music teacher and the knowledge of a dressage rider. Drawing on elements from all disciplines, Musique de Kur offers a personalized service, driven by a passion for horses and music.

Working in collaboration with trainers, top riders and dressage judges, Musique de Kur ensures the best possible vision for your kür.

Steps to follow

Send a video of the horse’s movements

The first step is musical research. We’ll need videos of the three gaits and the specific movements of the choreography. We don’t need the full choreography yet. We can help you film at your stable if possible. If not, be sure to send us clear videos where we can see the horse’s legs.

Send the choreography

We need to receive the complete choreography (in one video) about one month before the competition. We’ll edit a preliminary score (without transition details) for you to try out. Once the music has been approved, the full fee is due.

Final editing

The final music is then edited according to the choreography you sent us. Payment is due prior to delivery of the final music. We will also provide you with a video of your cover version with edited music.

Changes and corrections

We know that a duo evolves over the course of a season. That’s why we offer support throughout the competition season to adjust the times of the various musicals. We can lengthen or shorten the various sections. *Major choreography changes, level changes, music changes are extra.

Services

Music research

Musical research is an essential step in the creation of kur music. We suggest music that suits your taste, the style of your duo and the horse’s gait. There are no limits to the types of music you can choose from

Synchronization
The horse’s gaits are carefully studied to enable us to find the perfect musical synchronization between the gaits and the rhythm of the music. Using the metronome, we determine the tempi of the gaits and adjust the music.

Editing on choreography

The music is edited to emphasize the expressiveness of the choreography and the various changes of pace, transitions and movements. We respect the musical phrasing while accompanying the movements of the reprise.

Review of the choreography

As dressage riders who have taken part in numerous clinics and competitions, we are very familiar with the movements required for free practice. We know the equestrian language. So we’re able to review the choreography and make sure that all the compulsory movements are included, according to your level of competition.

Sending music to various competitions

We offer the possibility of sending the music directly to the various competitions on time and in the right format. Your music will be calibrated, tested on several different systems and clearly identified with your name and that of your horse.
